Phase 1 of Kya Sand was
launched by Randburg Town Council by Tender in 1985.
Only two tenders were received!
Initially industrial property sold for R45 per square metre.
Kya Sand is now identified as an
expanding industrial area.
It has grown from 74 businesses in 1993 to 420 businesses in the year
2002.
There are currently in excess of 650 Factory Units in Kya Sand.
Industrial Parks.
Southern life Industrial Village - the first notable industrial park to be built in Kya Sand was
developed for Southern Life by LTA Developments in 1991 and comprises a total of 16 500
sq.m.
Sanlam have built 101 units in
Trevallyn Park.
APD Industrial Park
comprises of 54 units.
ABSA's Ohm Street Industrial Park comprises of 38
units.
Kya North Village comprises
of 45 units.
These are the larger parks in Kya Sand. A number of smaller, privately owned
industrial and commercial properties have also been developed as secure parks and are providing their owners with good returns.
Many larger National and International companies have made Kya Sand
ideal location.

sq.m.
Texas Shoe, a manufacturer for Hi-Tec with 7000
sq.m.
Rentokil Initial, including their Tropical Plants Division, with a 3500
sq.m. commercial property.
Telkom with a 1400 sq.m.
industrial property in Bernie Street.
