Development
of industrial and commercial property in Randburg West.
Hendrik
Potgieter:
Major
development of this route is centered around the Fourteenth Avenue junction at
Constantia.
Commercial property development did not commence until the late 70's when the
Flora Clinic and OK Bazaars Hyperama Store were constructed. Since then
many thousands of square metres of Value Mart type shops and
showrooms have been developed.
One of the most notable is Hillfox Power
Centre, a 52000 sq.m. development by Sanlam (now Gensec Properties) with Trade
Centre as an anchor in 17000 sq.m.
Other larger developments include:
Abland's Constantia Commercial Centre (to the south of Hillfox).
Mines Pension Fund
development at Constantia Park comprising of "A"
grade offices, Days Inn Hotel, and restaurants.
Gensec have developed office on the
western side of the road and other commercial properties with magnificent views have been
developed higher up on the Kloof.
Latterly the area north of Jim Fouche to
Christiaan de Wet has been developed with lower rise buildings.
D. F.

Lifestyle Garden Centre have provided delicatessens, restaurants and an
'outdoor' entertainment centre.
Aurora College have moved to their new campus close to the
corner of Northumberland.

de Wet.
Lazer Park.
Laser Park
and the Honeydew Industrial areas have seen additional industrial and commercial
property development with many
new buildings for
both owner occupiers and tenants.
