brief look at industrial and commercial property in
Strijdom Park.
Randburg’s first proper
Industrial and commercial area, Strijdom Park, was never planned as such.
Strijdom Park and its various extensions were originally proclaimed for
"Residential" development.
It was in the late '70's and early '80's, the land was re-zoned for industrial
and commercial property use.
Earlier buildings were mainly "owner occupied".
In the second half of the '80's major Institutions took an interest in the area
and embarked on major expansion of their industrial and commercial property
portfolios .
Sanlam has become one
of the major investors in Strijdom Park, currently owning five industrial Parks
as well as Sanlam commercial Centre. These are:
